Works to connect an HDMI monitor to a DVI port on a graphics card.
My graphics card had a DVI connector, an HDMI connector and a DisplayPort connector on the back. I wanted to create a dual monitor display, but the monitors only had HDMI ports, so I was missing an HDMI slot on my graphics card. This went into the DVI connector on the graphics card, I plugged in a standard HDMI cable and it worked great.
