First, some cables will work with the converter. Second, some ports don't even register an external device when the converter is connected to some computers. After all, I've never been able to get read or write speeds over 10MB/s. .The seller contacted me and asked if I could try another one for free, maybe I caught a bad converter. I didn't want to because I don't actually have time for the manufacturer's quality control. However, I asked them to send replacements. The seller also explained that the USB-C cable must be oriented in the right direction, and if I have low speed, just twist the USB-C cable. I've never heard of a cable that has a "direction". After the swap, the converter reached USB 3.1 Gen 1 speeds of around 500MB/s, and actually twisting the cable resulted in USB 2.0 speeds. HA! Also, I had no issues with ports or cables when using the new replacements. Excellent customer service really paid off here. Excellent customer service and reliable product!
