I bought this for my 4 1/2 lb Chihuahua. We have a guinea pig, I even bought another one for my daughter to use with her and the dog is literally smaller than a guinea pig so I know the 'passenger' isn't the issue. I figured it would hang a little more and I can carry it around the house while my dog sleeps. It's pretty short. The hole is also quite small and the elastic is strong (which is good), so it's a bit like wearing one of those Elizabethan ruffs. Weight dragged around my neck (I was afraid this might happen; this is a feature of the dog hanging around the neck, not a fault of the product I received. This is resolved by using it only while seated so that the dog can essentially lie on my arm but still have the benefit of being warm and secure I would give 4 stars unless I ordered the blue dots for my dog boy and got the pink one Not worth an exchange but deducted a star Guinea pig came just right and my daughter loves it.
