A month ago I started a 20 gallon fresh water tank with my 7 year old son and installed a 1/4" granite mini gravel with a gravel filter that is partially used in an aquarium We currently have rummy noses, char and some other fish/shrimp/snails with a few plants The gravel has worked particularly well on the following spots 1) Doesn't affect pH and hardness yet 2) Brings the Color of the fish perfectly shows off as the gravel is a nice muted color 3) As the surface of each gravel particle is smooth and its edge is more rounded than it looks, this product is safe for bottom fish - our waders prefer to drill gravel but they've had so far never any damage.
