Installation is easy, but requires a certain level of manual dexterity.

The right rear door on our 2002 Dodge Caravan would not open either electrically or manually. Studies corrective actions on the Internet. Found some very useful videos on YouTube (worth watching). The problem is related to the failure of the door lock drive. The hardest part of the project was removing the inner door panel. The panel is held in place by a number of plastic bolts that snap into slots in the door frame. Work carefully here. Bolts press the panel firmly to the door. Several online sources offer panel (plastic pry) removal tools. One of them will make the job easier, but a resourceful person can make the same tool by bending the tip of an ordinary medium-sized paint scraper in a vise. After removing the fairing, all you have to do is loosen one screw (#15 Torx), disconnect the wiring harness (single-plug multi-pin wiring harness), and disconnect the manual control linkage from the lever on the latch actuator (the plastic latch sleeve that holds it in place). ). Slide the operator out of the bracket behind the door structure. This item can be used for both right and left door. Two levers are provided. They are marked R (right) and L (left/driver's side). One will be installed on the drive. The other lever can be swapped out if needed (a Phillips screwdriver is required). Connect the wiring and use the door controller to test the new actuator. If the lever clicks back and forth, the actuator is working (obviously). Install the new actuator in the bearing groove behind the inner door structure and hook the hand control linkage onto the actuator arm. Caution: Make sure the L-shaped bend of the manual control rod is inserted into the slot on the locking lever and place the plastic stop sleeve on the rod. Replace the torx mounting screw and replace the inner door panel. This job is pretty easy. If you are good enough with the tools, the job will take no more than an hour. The trader offers $1000+ for this job. Buy this item and make it yourself for about $30 (plus shipping)!
