Review on Infinity 60CSX Component Speaker System by Robert Toomey

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great Kappa Sound is the worst crossover ever!

I have had many Kappa speakers in different vehicles. I've sold some due to lack of money, others I've sold because car brands stopped installing 6X9 speakers in the rear, making it impossible to install 6.5" bracket components. So I had to settle for coaxes in the back. The sound system I ever advertised was two pairs of Kappa components front and rear! It was very beautiful! For the price of my new journey, I took the risk of buying sleep speakers like PIONEER Top of the Line or second best components. They don't have the punch of the Kappa but I'd say they were better! I had to reluctantly sell them as Pioneer tweeters are for external mounting only so stock doesn't fit. because of their size. These Pioneers hit lower and higher in the frequency range than these Kappas. OK. They are still as low as I need to complement the stock system in the TLX. I just didn't want to bother with the amp. this time. So far these speakers are doing their job. not as loud as standard despite what they say but sound a lot better. You really have to crack the speakers before you can actually hear them. You won't notice it right away, but after a while you'll find that they sound a lot better, bringing out a lot more detail and bass. I don't have a real Kappa hit and was happy to return to them, but I'm a new fan of these pioneers and I would have gotten over these if it wasn't for the tweeter issues. However, the main reason for the extreme disappointment and giddiness came from those crossovers! It's not about the sound, it's about the DESIGN! Who developed them and why? I've owned a lot of speakers (mainly Infinity) over the past 20 years and I've NEVER found figuring out how to use something as simple as crossovers more difficult than with these! The instructions don't tell you anything, but you NEED the instructions! These things are too big for you. The round shape will make it difficult for you to find a place for them. If you try to access the ports, remove the top only to find the case has completely detached! Why is? You look at the picture on the box, you see the legend and the transparent casing, and you wonder where THAT is. The instructions tell you ZERO about it. They just assume that the (completely unnecessary!) plastic top has to come loose somehow. I emailed Harmon and they should direct me to a youtube video that explains how to remove it. INDEED? It is almost impossible to remove them without damaging them. First I used a plastic tool and it still got damaged. It took too long so I used a metal tool on the second one. he got off easier. It took me a few days to figure it out! You don't have to have it to keep you. It was the dumbest, most unnecessary design for a car crossover - EVER! The crossover doesn't need new designs with new speaker designs - they'll be hidden anyway! We just want them to work very well, with easy access, don't get frustrated! So the speakers are great, but crossovers will frustrate you to the point of wondering who approves of the crossover design and WHY! They would have gotten five stars but the crossover design blew them away.

  • Everything is fine!
Cons
