Perhaps my expectations were too high, but this mug does not meet the requirements described above. They are attractive, well made at first glance, and look exactly like the photos provided, but a few things to note: 1) First, I was looking for an 8 ounce mug for a small latte. The single wall glass mugs I used are 10 oz so I figured these "10 oz mugs" would work. When unpacking, I noticed how huge they are. They measure 14 oz (400 ml) to the brim. I checked the box to make sure the correct item was shipped and it says 10 oz. Maybe these cups are suitable for Grande Latte? 2) Many reviewers' comments describe their excellent thermal performance, but my coffee got cold in what I consider to be the usual amount of time. I filled this mug and one of my single wall glass mugs with 8 ounces of hot water and then waited about 10 minutes to take their temperature. As I suspected, the water in the insulated cup was only 10 degrees warmer than the non-insulated cup. This performance is not worth the price. 3) The rim of the double-walled cup should be thick, and this cup has a thick rim. I'm willing to ignore this factor, but it's worth noting in this review for those who might not enjoy drinking from a thick-rimmed cup. 4) Like many reviewers, I think these mugs will crack or break easily. . Although they are described as dishwasher safe I would not risk breakage resulting from putting them in the dishwasher. They are very light and the glass, while quite elegant, is very thin. It has a silicone valve on the bottom that is said to be hydrophobic. While I haven't kept these cups long enough to see how they work, Bodum at least included a valve mechanism that should work better than the hole. Yes, I returned them.
