My 2002 Ranger had an odd problem where it would twitch at low rpm or under acceleration. I had a bit of luck assuming it was the coil and not the spare wires and spark plugs. A word of caution: remove the coil itself by unscrewing the four screws before disconnecting the wiring. The electrical connector that snaps into the reel itself has plastic tabs that snap into place, but are also held in place by a metal retainer (think oblong >_< shaped paper clip). I made the mistake of removing the tabs as I didn't notice the metal clip at first. Needless to say I broke one of the clips although it still seems to fit just as well and shouldn't come loose. In other words, before disconnecting the wiring harness, remove the coil first. This allows you to visually see the metal retaining clip and see how it should be removed first. After a 30 minute ordeal, mostly spent trying to figure out if I could reattach the broken terminal, I unscrewed and secured the connector wires, the truck ran as usual. Much luck!
