Perfect Ranger OEM replacement

Last year's trim didn't seem to match in terms of performance and fuel economy. After replacing a cheaper brand installed by my mechanic with this motorcycle coil, my Ranger 08 is performing as expected.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Fixed spark crash code

Woken up to a flashing check engine light, scanned the engine codes and snapped a picture, this coil will solve the problem. Luckily this happened and thanks to Revain I was able to get the correct genuine Motorcraft part to get the job done.

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons
  • Very Expensive

Fixed chugging during acceleration and highway speeds.

Fits my 2009 Ford Ranger and solved my pesky problem. My truck jerked and lost power so much under acceleration and while driving on the freeway that the cruise control failed because it couldn't keep the truck going. I tried changing spark plugs and wires but nothing changed. Ignition coil replaced and works like new again! The replacement took less than 10 minutes and I had no prior knowledge of replacing the ignition coil, it is very easy if you have done ANY work on your car.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Only available in black

2 trucks repaired, bad and good!

Worked great on my 2 Ford Ranger. Initially the truck idled well and held its speed fairly well, but as soon as you accelerate or go uphill the engine starts and dies. I thought I was chasing a fuel problem. Pulled out the coil, and cracks are visible on it. I don't know how it went. Took one off the other truck to swap out and test and acceleration was smooth! Ordered this genuine part and the truck ran great. THEN I went to put my "test" spool back on the second truck, examined it carefullyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Frequency

About a year ago I bought one of those $20 coils off Amazon for my Ford Ranger DOHC 2.4L (Mazda engine). It all started over, so I ordered spark plugs and it didn't help. So I ordered spark plug cables. Still bad. I thought I recently replaced the coil so it can't be. Something else? Injectors clogged? I continued to search the internet for answers. And then my research turned up Amazon reviews of a cheap reel I bought. components. I should have kept the original spark plugs and wires as theyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Easy replacement and fix for chugging/stuttering under acceleration

My 2002 Ranger had an odd problem where it would twitch at low rpm or under acceleration. I had a bit of luck assuming it was the coil and not the spare wires and spark plugs. A word of caution: remove the coil itself by unscrewing the four screws before disconnecting the wiring. The electrical connector that snaps into the reel itself has plastic tabs that snap into place, but are also held in place by a metal retainer (think oblong >_< shaped paper clip). I made the mistake of removingโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

I am an experienced diagnostician with the best equipment available

Nothing to say. This is the original Motorcraft coil. The original 2006 Ranger 2.3L coil number ended in -C. This one ends in -D, so it's probably a redesign. Hope for improvement as the original coil in this truck only lasted 10 years and 60,000 miles. Listen folks, I'm an experienced diagnostician with the best equipment available, so please listen to me. Coils don't usually fail for no reason. What kills coils is high resistance in secondary ignition components (plug, wire, cap, rotor). This

Pros
  • One year probationary period
Cons
  • Available in white only
