Very happy with this item. I bought it to shred meat for making homemade sausages that require the meat to be almost frozen and the machine had no problems with frozen meat. Because I make sausage, my meat is very fatty and I've had previous meat grinders where the blade and plate became clogged with grease and I had to keep stopping to clean them. This machine leaves some grease on the blades and platen, but not much to slow down the sharpening process. I would stop between batches of meat (a couple of pounds worth) to clean. As for the sausage machine, I would only give it 3.5/5 stars. It worked but was a bit slow. (Note that I stuffed the sausages on a hot, humid day, which may have played a role because once your meat starts to thaw, it turns into an uncomfortable mess.) I've since invested in a Vivo sausage stuffer , so I won't use it to stuff sausages anymore. But since I bought it primarily as a coffee grinder, I give it 5 stars because it more than met my expectations.
