I bought this to give my already black CA license plates a sleek look. These are special panels so I wanted to protect them from the sun etc. Also, I've had people try to steal my tags in the past, so this should help prevent this issue. I had no problems with the police until the cover started to fade. Once it's gone, there's nothing you can do about it, and at that point it almost completely hides your plates. You have to buy a new one about every year to avoid attracting police attention. Initially, the installation was quite complicated, but once you understand how it works, things get a little easier. Don't overdo it. You will break the lid. Especially after being in the elements for some time. Pros: - Keeps your plates clean - Keeps your labels safe - Looks cool - People can't easily see your plate number if you turn them over and they're behind you. Disadvantages: - disappears after about a year - cops don't like it - hides cracks if overtightened
