For what it is, this thing works well. I've had it for over a year now and it's still working. If I remember correctly, it won't write to NTFS filesystems (it will read them with no problem). In order to be able to put files larger than 2GB on it, I installed an ext2 filesystem on the hard drives before putting them on the NAS (I don't think it would create that kind of filesystem by itself). The whole thing starts very slowly and the transfer speed isn't that good once it's started. The web interface is also very slow. On the plus side, you can connect to it in a variety of ways, and it's an easy way to provide a massive amount of storage space to the entire network. I've read some negative reviews about them getting hot, but that didn't happen with two WD 5400 RPM drives. Also note that I don't consistently use it all the time. I only use it to fill space from my other drives or just make things available to the whole network. It was too slow to be used for anything else. Given the possibility of a full refund, I would spend an additional $50 for a small form factor computer that I could install the full operating system on.
