Makita did a crappy job documenting or explaining this product. The "kit" consists of two rods, 5 set screws (one spare screw) and an Allen key. Both bars go into one of the T-sections on the track and you use the set screws from one to push the second bar in. This creates a nice snug fit without forcing the set screws into the aluminum rail. Since there are two sections of T-rails on the tracks, it is ideal to connect the tracks in two "kits". it is, and there is an alternative Festool connecting rod that is cheaper. It works well, but the Festool doesn't use a two-bar design, so the setscrews screw straight into the rail and might gouge them out if you're not careful. Another nice feature from festool is that the grub screws only have a flat head, so there is no need to use an Allen key when connecting the rails. Both options work well, but I think the Makita is better. I would spend an extra $10-20 on both Makita kits instead of Festool and be done with that.
