I’m always struggling with extension cords both finding them and getting them untangled. So when I saw this cord reel from Craftsman with an extension cord included, I figured it was just what I needed.The extension cord is physically attached to the reel, so you can’t change it out for a longer cord. It’s a 14 gauge cord on the reel, so it should be usable for most standard household tasks. It will even take a small space heater with no problem.The reel is built onto a tubular steel frame which is pretty sturdy. The plastic cord reel is a different story though. It feels like cheap plastic…the kind that would crack the first time the cord reel got knocked over. There is a ‘cord management guide’ that is supposed to keep the cord evenly distributed on the reel when you wind it up. It didn’t work for me. The winding handle and the carrying handle both work well.There are four 3-prong outlets on the front of the cord reel. There’s also a built in breaker which is always good to have to prevent overloading the reel. One thing to note, you cannot leave anything plugged into the cord reel when you wind it up. The outlets spin just like the reel does. You think Craftsman would have though of something so that wouldn’t happen.I know I’ll get a good deal of use out of this Craftsman cord reel. I wish it was a little better made though. At least I’ll be able to find an extension cord now that’s not a tangled mess.
