Review on Effortless Prepaint Surface Preparation with KRUD KUTTER GO32 Gloss-Off - 32-Ounce by Chris Byers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Less effort and time than buffing

I am currently expecting my first child with my husband. When we found out about this, I immediately realized that we have a lot of housework to do to prepare for the birth of a child. Our house was built in the 50's, it has lots of natural wood, heavily varnished surfaces and hollow doors. The previous owners painted some of the trim white, some of the doors white, and I knew I wanted all of the trim white. I also read that you can upgrade your house and make it more expensive if the doors are painted black. Behr produces primer and paint in one bottle. I bought a polar bear for the fairing and carbon for the doors. I used Krud Kutter shine remover on the molding and door. I read several reviews before using it. I rubbed the wood surfaces with a Scotch-Brite sponge. The finish was a little tricky, especially in the grooves. It also removes dirt so I wiped everything down with a damp microfiber cloth. It took 3-4 coats of white because the structure of the wood will show through. The door was covered in almost 1 layer, the 2nd layer to touch up. It was a lot easier and less messy than traditional sanding and does a good job. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it says 'non-toxic' but there are warnings to keep it away from skin or eyes. When I think of non-toxicity, I think I don't need to wear gloves to use it. It doesn't smell, I had the windows and fan open as a precaution, but I didn't notice any side effects from bad fumes. It dries quickly and can be colored shortly after application.

Pros

Cons
