Item was defective on arrival

I installed a GFCI socket and as soon as I turned on the switch I heard pops/pops in the GFCI box. It worked intermittently for a while, but then shut down and continued to make crackling noises. I replaced it with another GFCI socket and the circuit worked fine and still didn't work. Looks like I'm out of luck.

Pros

This GFCI socket easily replaces existing sockets and compact screw terminals make installation easier
