As the owner of several expensive fur felt hats, I was looking for a good brush that could clean my hats and restore their appearance! I'm glad I bought this brush because it really works! The ergonomically curved design makes it easy to clean along the inside edge of the edges, as well as along the top edge, folds and underside of the edges. As directed in the instructions, move counter-clockwise across the top of the hat and clockwise under the brim. Hats are "finished" in a way (usually with a grinder) that often adds a graininess to the pile. That's why you want to brush counter-clockwise. You will be surprised how radiant fur felt looks after a good and professional cleaning! If you're like me, your hat didn't look that good when you bought it! Combing revives it. I want to solve the problem of hair loss through the comb. First, let me say that a natural fiber brush, in this case horsehair, will lose a hair or two from time to time, especially when it's brand new. I didn't find anything reprehensible about my hair falling out of the brush at all. For my first use, I brushed and brushed five hats: two Stetson, Dobbs, Christy, and Akubra. Here's what I noticed about hair loss: In the beginning, yes, a hair or two fell out of the comb. I guess that was to be expected and all I had to do was just blow them off on first hat, but it wasn't like some of the comments I read here that led me to believe that's what a lot of people are seeing , probably the real fur fiber of their hats. In other words, they see the rabbit fur fibers that make up the felt of their hats. When combing the hat, some of these individual hairs stick up. When you brush your hat, you also loosen the fibers, e.g. B. a random thread of nylon thread that is used to sew this band to your head. In fact I found two such separate "hairs" but again these weren't horse hair but nylon strands and they didn't come out from under the comb. actually see individual hairs from the felt itself. It's rabbit fur, not horsehair! There's a difference! Horse hair is coarse and thick. And of course, if you pay close attention, the strands of hair in your hat are much shorter than the strands of horsehair used in the hat brush. With a beaver fur felt like my Stetson Pinnacle, you can't see individual strands of hair at all. Akubra Boss has small single hairs, and even on a black hat they look lighter. Again, this is rabbit hair, not horse hair from a comb. My Dobbs and older Stetson Royals have thicker felt and therefore no hair was showing on them. So I would have no hesitation in recommending this brush and I am sure as I have lighter colored hats (I have all black ones) I will buy another Superio hat brush as it is better to have one for dark hats and one for lighter ones.
