Very good until it's

I'm not trying to denigrate the brand, I understand all brands have lemons and this is the normal side of the production batches unless the design is really bad. I'm giving one star to draw your attention to this review. I received my 65H9G at noon on June 12th, started calibrating a few hours later by Sunday and was ready to watch movies on Monday. I've amassed a decent collection of 4K HDR Blu-rays over the last few years, which I couldn't fully enjoy as my current VIZIO didn't have HDR capabilities, so I started using my library with my OPPO UDP-205.I . finished "Passengers" and moved on to the next "Source Code" and got screaming pictures like the cable wasn't connected properly, I checked, maybe the connector is loose, it's not. I turned everything off and on again and tried again and I got a normal video asking if I want to pick up where I left it. At that moment I thought everything was fine, I press "YES" only to hear the audio and no video. Up to this point everything indicated that OPPO was broken. To be sure I brought my 4K Samsung PC monitor to check and to my surprise I got the picture, it played fine, put in a few discs to try and everything worked. I went back to plugging in the H9G and got the same pink picture and I was like... it's a TV! but why was I able to watch the video of it after it was released? I've been watching Netflix videos for the past few hours with no issues, so it might have been the H9G port(s) after all. I played the video on my ROKU Ultra and was able to watch it. I tried Oppo again with another 4K film and got the same pink silhouettes and it finally hit me. To test my theory I went to my ROKU and watched a NETFLIX 4k HDR movie, found a few and tried to play them and got the same pink screen, to give up that it was a port or cable I left Go to the NETFLIX H9G native app and watched the same video but got the same pink screen. As a final test, I did a factory reset of everything in case one of my settings was causing it, but I still got the same result. Tonight I found myself troubleshooting, I didn't think I left any stone unturned so I gave up and requested a refund. All brands have issues, as anyone can easily see by looking at an item's ratings here at Revain, ranging from Best Buy to Clean Trash for the same item, so please don't take this as I would be debunking the brand but my confidence was shaken, I had a Samsung EDTV, Hitachi HDTV, Vizio UDTV (still in service) and a couple of PC monitors and they were either resold when I was upgrading or given away so I don't want to deal with it at the moment with refurbished device. Will I try Hisense again? Possibly, but I'll let the model mature because I don't want to deal with something like that again. As long as it worked, it was really good. HDR.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Piggy bank price
