Review on πŸ”§ Heavy-Duty Ball Joint Press & U Joint Removal Tool Kit with 4x4 Adapters for Enhanced Compatibility, Catering to 2WD and 4WD Cars and Light Trucks (BL) by Joey Gilbert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

High quality ball joint press set.

This $48 kit was a godsend. Pressing out the lower ball joints on my 2010 Chrysler Sebring went well. The shell that went over the ball joint was about 3/16 inch too short to push it out all the way, but a couple of hits with a big punch and a hammer knocked it out all the way. Due to the way the Chrysler knuckles are formed I wasn't able to use a press to install them, but using cups and a blacksmith's hammer pressed each ball joint flush in less than 5 minutes. And yes, I removed the steering knuckles from the car to replace the ball joints. The only real problem I had at first was that there was a burr on the large C-clip's threads near the edge. But I greased the screw and ran my drill back and forth a few times. After that, no bindings, as I was able to turn the screw in by hand without any problems. How it will hold up to repeated use I have no idea. I know it made my job a lot easier. I've only used it on two ball joints, but I kept an eye on the C-clamp and didn't notice any thread leakage or fraying.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Doubtful
