So far so good (Edit: 1 year later, still good)

So far, after four weeks of use, it's working really well. When I got my Retina Macbook Pro I was disappointed with the choice of SSD capacity and have always resented the work required to maintain at least 10GB of free space needed to hibernate a RAM image to write to storage (especially when Apple is so generous in using large amounts of storage space for data libraries, portable backups, photo streams, and the like). Having an extra 128GB on hand is a lifesaver. You need to make a formatting decision immediately: the default ExFAT format is better for transferring large files, but can be slower when reading or writing folders with tons of files. . You'll probably want to use the HFS+ (Mac OS Extended - Journaled) file system, which generally offers the best performance on a Mac. (Open the Disk Utility app installed on your Mac from the Applications > Utilities folder; left-click the Transcend Card icon, right-click the Erase tab, select "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" at the bottom, and let the Disk name of your selection and click on "Delete".) Of course it is better to choose the format right away instead of saving the files somewhere else on the card and then reloading. You can experiment with both formats and see the transfer speeds you get by trying large files and folders full of small files before switching to one or the other. However, don't expect this card to be as fast as your SSD in any format, or even as fast as a USB3 external hard drive. That's it. I'm worried how long this will take. I've had a lot of SD cards over the years. Will this last at least a few years? The time will show. If something untoward happens, I will come back and change it. Edit: A year later and it still works like it did when I first got it. Very good!
