Review on Sony FE 55mm F1.8 Sonnar T ZA Full Frame Prime Lens (Fixed) by Adhira Nair ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm very happy with the product, it's very satisfying.

My favorite Sony lens. Most of the photos from this lens I want to review. Especially portraits. Foolishly sold it when experimenting with other systems, but went back to Sony and bought it again first thing. Image quality and workmanship is as high as the first example. I willingly believe that top-end optics from Sony such as 24/1.4, 35/1.4, 50/1.4, 85/1.4, 135/1.8 gives even better quality. But, as an amateur, I would not just carry them on trips, for walks (well, except for 24/1.4 maybe). I carry this one all the time. Yes, and the price is different there, and 55 / 1.8 can be bought, especially used or at sales, much cheaper.

Pros
  • Exceptional image quality. Small weight and size. High and seems to be stable workmanship. Pleasant to use. Fast and virtually silent AF.
Cons
  • There are none, although if you really want to, you can find them, such as small purple halos on contrasting borders (blooming), etc. But I don't even want to look. Perhaps I would like a little closer, although close-ups are enough for photographing flowers and faces.

Got pros: The lens is compact and very sharp. Autofocus is very tenacious and nimble. Cons: There are no disadvantages. Worth every.
