Review on 🚣 Thule DockGrip Kayak Carrier: Secure and Easy-to-Use Kayak Transportation Solution by James Maruffo

Draws great! The secondary functionality of the design is the fur.

Esp. For the price I expected a little more. I call this the "comfort" category. Used in conjunction with Thule 'Aeroblade Bar' and maybe some of the bugs could be related to that too. They just stick out too far to stay up when not in use (just look silly). In fact, Thule's manual also says "delete when not in use" (laughs, seriously?). Still, it also hints at the mystery of the bonded strip of rubber that fills the "track" in the Aeroblade bars (although they also come with hardware to fit onto the bars without using the "track". , which gives the cleanest look when in use are not as many when mounted ON poles). ie you really need TWO sets of rubber bands (one when not installed and one when installed - to avoid quite loud steering noise), of which the Aeroblade comes with only one - the additional cost is $10! However, with the right positioning and binding, he REALLY holds the yak as if his life depended on it. I don't even bother to tie the stern line. Absolutely as much confidence in the included straps and only one spare sling. I think if I did it again I would choose Hull-a-Port aero. It looks like everything would be fine if installed, not portable and blocked. Also consider that you can install the second installation there if needed. SO. If you don't mind those big unsightly things sitting on the roof of your non-yak car, you'll have to install/remove them every time you want to go yakkin (rubber strips included). (Or you could just leave them on the Aeroblade crossbars etc. and install/remove THIS whole thing each time - or attach them TO the bars with the included hardware.)

Pros
  • Stand for kayaks, canoes and SUPs
Cons
  • Out of fashion
