I Use this to thin acrylic paint for application directly to wooden toys. It thins paint without thinning the acrylic particles needed to adhere to the next layer of paint if needed. The thinner paint penetrates deep into the wood, fixing the paint on the surface and allowing more layers to adhere to the surface. Some acrylics will still lay flat when thinned with this product (black works very well), but others won't even lay flat straight out of the bottle. So, as a thinner, pay attention to the opacity as well as adhesion to the surface and, if necessary, to the next color.
