EDIT: I finally got it working. It took seven - SEVEN - factory resets and poking around the Smart Things website in a deeply buried place that allowed me to edit the default save locations, which seemed to be the key to getting it working somehow properly. In any case, I connected my devices to the hub and created the rules I needed. However, Bixby is terrible at it. Voice recognition leaves a lot to be desired. I have an Echo Dot and it's much more reliable. A week later, this device could not do anything. I've set it up quite successfully. Then I got my first smart device - a GE Z-Wave outlet. Pairing should be easy. Select Add device to app, press the button on the device and voila. But nothing has ever paired. The same applies to the Z-Wave dimmer switch. Nothing happens. With a few other options, I factory reset the device. The installation process went through again, I think it was successful. Wanted to try adding the device again. Getting the message "This device requires a hub to connect." What? No matter what I try, the app doesn't seem to know that it's contacted the hub just well enough to set it up successfully. a sign that everything is working properly. Excellent. This technology is not quite ready for prime time.
