Not as good as I expected.

Smart Hub integrates well with new devices, but even after resetting devices that were previously connected to the Z-Wave hub, Smart Hub does not recognize these devices. In addition, there are very few compatible home security cameras. I'm migrating from an ADT Pulse system and I can't connect my existing cameras, door locks, outlets, and switches.

Not compatible with GE Smart Light Zwave Switches

Got a Samsung Smartthings hub and it worked quite well. Then a piece of the Ethernet cable connector broke and the cable didn't fit into place and remained blocked. Decided to buy another one but found out Samsung is going out of business. Aeotec Corp now manufactures devices. I ordered one and after many attempts found that it will not pair with GE Smart Switches. Very frustrating as there is no tech support anywhere no matter what Revain tells you.

Functionally identical to Samsung v3 Hub

I have a setup with a number of Z-Wave devices on a Samsung V3 SmartThings Hub and wanted to buy another one for a new location. I was surprised to see that the Samsung hub is no longer available, except for a WiFi + Zwave/Zigbee combo, which I didn't want. The hub now appears to be marketed under the Aeotec brand, but is physically and functionally identical. I set it up as a new hub on my existing SmartThings account with no complications. It seems to like the same Z-Wave devices as my…

Great if you're past connection issues.

Aeotech was the manufacturer of Smartthings hubs under the Samsung brand. Aeotech took over the production of hubs. This device (newer than the Samsung version) is well built and the software integration is very good. My main goal was to connect the Schlage door lock to our Alexa-enabled smart home network. It works, but be aware that it will require changing batteries, factory resetting everything, and scanning the QR codes that originally came with the lock documents to get the door lock and…

Rebranded version of Samsung SmartThings Hub V3

This is my first time playing SmartThings but I've done a lot of research. This hub appears to be a rebranded version of the Samsung SmartThings Hub V3 - the wall charger in the box that the Aeotec Hub comes with is Samsung and I purchased the Galdoo Wall Mount for Samsung SmartThings Hub 3rd Gen to connect the Aeotec to install on the wall and it fits perfectly. I currently only have one product that requires a hub - Beat BE469ZP Connect Smart Deadbolt with Alarm, Z-Wave Plus enabled. My…

Easy setup on home automation devices

I bought this Z-Wave hub to work with a Schlage Connect Deadbolt and it does an excellent job. However, when I tried to pair it with the Alexa Dot 3 using the Smartthings skill, it didn't recognize the Aetoc hub. Not only did this result in Alexa turning green and surrounding the Alexa Dot. I tried calling Revain's Alexa support but was put on hold for a tech to try and fix the issue on their end after I tried to resolve the issue. I was on hold for 20 minutes, just hung up and decided to just…

Switching to the new V3 hub gives me a few more years of readiness.

My Smartthings V1 hub was old and I decided to upgrade before it broke down. Switching hubs takes a long time, but the new application allows you to add a new hub to the original account (give it a different name). You can then exclude the device from the old hub, switch, and then add it to the new one. The new wireless hub makes it easy to add devices as a small USB battery pack (not included with the hub) allowed me to navigate the V3 hub over Wi-Fi and connect with ease. It took a little…

Bugs and untested updates make the system unreliable

So I was quite happy with the system which I spent a lot of money and time installing. (I've had issues with cost and occasional unreliability.) But the SmartThings team just released an update that had me tearing my hair out. The sensors no longer work. (I had to either remove and reinstall the sensors, or remove the batteries and restart the sensors. In any case, if you're using them for remote monitoring, you'll have to drive there to reset everything.) The automation moves. slow as…

Design flaws limit functionality

My environment: This hub is connected to my switch on my IoT network. I'm using the SmartThings app on a later generation iPad, I'm running 3 hotspots from the switch covering >80% of all SmartSwitch locations. Problem: A hub connected to a switch via Ethernet has one major disadvantage. Don't use hotspots to connect to devices. Rather, it (that hub) needs to be in close physical proximity to each device to establish a connection. This is required not only for initial setup, but also for…
