For most 2.5" laptop drives (7mm and 9.5mm). Pleasant, NOT disturbingly bright, RGB lighting (which can also be switched off with a switch on the housing). Well-made aluminum body. The internal isolating mount for the drives is high quality and serves as a waveguide for the RGB LEDs. Two thicknesses of foam are available to provide cushioning for drives of different thicknesses. are a SIM tool to open the case (see below), a short USB-C to USB-C cable and (according to the packaging) a USB-C to USB-A adapter (which doesn't seem to be more than a few reviews say it wasn't and it didn't come with mine). The "latch" case is really the only issue with this case (and why I took off a star for "easy to install" when it would only be half a star if Revain allows it). al pin mounted in disc holder. The included SIM tool is used to push the pin and push the holder from the opposite end. While the tool is running the media is quite tight and trying to hold the pin with the SIM tool while pushing it out the other end is difficult. Worse, when you reinsert the holder after inserting your disc of choice, it's also difficult to manipulate the pin and insert the holder at the same time. Icebox should have thought a little better about the build. The SIM tool is too sharp to easily hold a rounded pin (try the end of a small paperclip, I found it easier). A little more clearance on the holder would have made the whole process easier (much!) as it tends to stick, and the notch for the pin when assembling the case should have been better designed. Simply increasing the depth of the pin slot from shallow at the locking hole to deeper at the back of the case would make assembly much easier. All in all, I think Icybox most likely came to the conclusion that any drive fits in an enclosure. The hull was intended to be installed semi-permanently and care was taken not to easily fall out. My own experience has shown that this conclusion is correct. In older (USB2) enclosures that I've used for years, the only reason to remove a drive from the enclosure was due to drive failure. While the design might be better for those who switch drives frequently, most are unlikely to need to use the latch frequently after installing their chosen drive. The "bonus" of this case, in my view, is that unlike many other much bulkier new cases of its kind, this one fits inside my long-standing and still very useful Case Logic padded travel case. Would I buy another one like this? Of course it would.
