Review on Ideaker Bearing Support: Horizontal Bushing Solution by Eric Young

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The support blocks are pretty poorly made but everything else seems good enough

First impressions are about the quality I expected for $35. The bars are straight for the most part, within about 0.3mm at worst. The bearing seems good although it's the first I've ever had, one was a little rough at first but running it with some oil eliminated the chatter. However, there is one big problem: the support blocks are rather poorly made. The holes for the rod are enlarged and cannot be clamped. When it's fully closed (which requires so much torque that you can break the allen wrench), there's about a quarter of a millimeter of play. The second issue is that the screw hole is also oversized leaving very little room for screw contact. In combination with the force required for installation, the screw will cut into the support block. The screw basically just sits on the edge of its cover. There is generally little machining, and some of them have multiple notches, as in the picture, where the notch meets the stem seat. Of the 8 blocks in the set, only one could snuggle up a bit. The other 7 were as bad as pictured or worse. Not sure if I will be returning these items as everything else seems fine so far. I needed this now and can easily buy a replacement for them faster than the seller could send another install which could be just as bad.
