I've had about 3 spoons over the last few years and don't eat that much ice cream. Twice I accidentally put the measuring spoon in the dishwasher and ended up with an aluminium-zinc mass that left a metallic imprint in the ice. So this time I chose stainless steel, which could withstand my carelessness. After looking at many, I settled on Spring Chef. The scoop is durable and cuts through the toughest ice cream in no time. The handle is soft and comfortable for an arthritis sufferer's hands. I bought a heavier 9" shovel and I'm glad I did. It's not too big and not too heavy. Cleanup is a breeze too, with no running water splashing on you thanks to a shape flatter than a round shovel. However, it makes perfectly round blades. I think it's fantastic. I'm ordering another one as a gift.
