Review on πŸš— Rubicon Express RE1310 4.5" Coil Spring for Jeep XJ - Pair: Boost Your Jeep XJ's Performance with Superior Suspension Upgrade by Glenn Cho

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Only gave 3.5 inches of lift

For starters I have nothing against RE. All my springs are from them and I like the ride quality. My rating is based on my personal experience with these springs and their ride height. I haven't seen many legitimate negative reviews of RE springs so I felt I had to share them. I have an xj jeep that I have worked on a lot. It raises about 4.5 inches with adjustable wishbones (short arms) and mounts to move. When I bought it it had a Rough Country lift kit with an extra leaf. So the rest of the suspension aside. I didn't care how it rode or how stiff the front end was. After sorting out other aspects of the suspension, I realized that RC springs were a big part of my problem. I did a lot of research and finally settled on RE springs as the spring rate was spot on and they had great reviews. So, fast forward, I bought them from Revain, installed them, and then continued with other work I did on the Jeep (body cut, dual batteries, and other electrical stuff). So after 2 weeks I was done with most of the stuff and pulled it out to flip in my garage (it's a small garage). And when I look at it, I notice that the front end sits lower than I remember. (I haven't driven it at the moment although the weight of the car has been on the springs for 2 weeks) so I pulled out a tape measure and compared it to measurements I had taken with an old rusty 4.5" RC have. Raise the springs and in fact it sits 1 inch lower. I checked the numbers printed on the springs and they matched the 4.5 springs. I don't know if it was that low from the second second I put them on, or if it was after 2 weeks of sitting (which seems a bit extreme) but either way I was very disappointed that these 4 .5 inch lifter the springs only gave me 3.5 inches. The interesting thing is that I tried their 5.5 inch lift springs and they gave me an extra inch over the RC springs and stayed that way after 2 weeks. So I don't know if it was just because of this set or if others just didn't notice it. But still I was very frustrated with this whole situation and made a simple spring update much more difficult than it should have been. I apologize for the long review, I wanted to give as much information as possible so it can help others.
