Review on Nordic Pure 16X25X1 Pleated Furnace Air Filters by Calvin Chavva

Revainrating 1 out of 5

No label, no packaging, half the surface of high quality filters

The first warning sign was that this product came with all the filters in one box. It's all good, but none of them are packaged! It is believed that high efficiency air filters have a small amount of static charge that is retained on the filter until used by a non-conductive barrier - plastic film. This prompted me to inspect them further, upon which I noticed that there was no MERV rating label (ordered MERV12) anywhere on the filters or packaging, and also no marking on the filters themselves. somewhere! As far as I can tell someone took a real box and put 6 random filters in it. I don't even know if they are Nordic Pure filters! Then I removed it with my old filter (Filtrete air filter) - the Nordic Pure has 20 pleats. Filtrete has 48 of these. Since these pleats are the same 1 inch thickness and cover the same 16 x 25 area, this means that the Filtrete filter has 2.4 times the surface area of these filters and therefore (assuming the same) Material quality which is dubious for the above reasons) is less than half the drag of these Scandinavian filters. Don't waste your money - although I support finding a good deal, you won't get one here. The lower price comes with a noticeably lower quality and will likely cost you in the long run. (High drag leads to higher energy bills and higher maintenance costs)
