Works like a champ!

Unpainted cast iron will rust if left in a living room atmosphere for a day. The rust blocking prevents the development of rust for many days, which is more than enough to put a cast iron item in a ziplock plastic bag along with the desiccant. The cast-iron object remains rust-free afterwards. Bare steel is MUCH less prone to corrosion than bare cast iron. Just make sure the rust block finish covers the entire surface.

Pros

<p>Rust Block is a specially formulated water-based rust preventative designed for long-term protection and easy removal. The rust block can be applied by dipping, spraying or wiping. It dries at the same rate as water, leaving a thin, non-sticky film that resists rusting for up to a year. Machined parts must be stored indoors. Rust blockers are removed from parts with a simple water rinse and require no chemical cleaners or solvents. This product contains only biodegradable surfactants.
