Zulay Extra Tall Orange Squeezer - Manual Orange Squeezer: Holy Moly! That's beauty. Easy handling. Full mechanical advantage. I've been wishing for something like this for a long time. I've bought lemons to juice with a manual juicer but that never worked and I've lost a lot of fruit without much success. Also, I have issues with my wrists, making it difficult to use manual ones. Not so with this beauty. It is strong and penetrates through the fruit leaving behind dried peel, seeds and nothing else. The night I got it I put grapefruit in it and it just blew my mind. And it was by far the best grapefruit juice I've ever had. Now there are a few things I would change. First the top "cup", the part that goes down and actually does all the pressing. It's very difficult to clean. And secondly, if the handle is not lifted exactly to the stop, it will fall. The elegance and simplicity of this design allowed me to come up with a few workarounds, although I wasn't faithful to the beautiful design. (so far) they are functional and that's why I get full marks for them. Sometimes function is more important than form. I replaced two screws with thumbscrews and now I can remove the top cup holder without tools. The first goes to the shaft that runs through the top of the bowl and the second, larger, replaces the set screw that is on the back of the bowl shaft and connects it to the vertical rod. Next thing I'll probably do is drill a hole in the top of the vertical bar and insert a roll pin or small stainless steel pin so the bar doesn't fall out when I take the cup off. Sounds like a lot of work. , but that's not quite right, and this part definitely needs cleaning. With the mods I've created, removing and replacing the mug is a breeze. When stores reopen I will try to find thumbscrews that complement the original design because they look really good right away. Oh! and a falling handle portion. If it were me, and now that I have it, I would put a latch on the fork or something to keep it from falling off. Anyway, I just took one of those thick rubber bands that come with broccoli and stuck it on a fork. When it's upright I can easily hook it with my finger on the vertical bar and it holds it there. It's just as easy to roll out. Overall, despite my need for mods (and perhaps the ease of making mods!), this was a great purchase and I would recommend it to anyone serious about juicing. citrus fruits. Great Zulai design!
