This shark is incredibly efficient. It's light and easy to use and it's great to see all the dirt and pet hair when I empty it. I know the HEPA filter works because I always notice my breathing getting a little easier after vacuuming. (I have several long haired pets, wood burning stove, a messy yard, and a busy schedule that doesn't leave time for frequent vacuuming!) I bought this to replace an identical unit I bought years ago. (The original was maybe 10 years old - eventually the hoses developed a few cracks that were a bit difficult to fix with tape due to the placement.) The machine disassembles easily for use on stairs or ceilings and an adjustable air intake to adjust the suction power is useful when vacuuming carpets or delicate fabrics. I bought it as a refurbished car and was a bit nervous after reading some of the negative reviews but haven't seen any problems with it so far. I've had this for several weeks now. If I'm uncomfortable with that, I'll update the review. I was tempted to save money by buying another cheaper brand but after comparing reviews I chose Shark again. I'm very glad I did.
