The part that you slide your toe in has soft elastic outside and soft silicon inside. So this item would be perfect for any bunion sufferers. Except for one major flaw: it is extremely small. I don't consider myself as having large feet, size 6.5. There was no way it can go anywhere on my big toe. So I slid it on to the smaller toe. It's still tight. I tried to wear them for few hours while in bed so I'm not walking around. It doesn't bother me too much, but when I took it out, I can see it has left red marks on my toe where it was squeezing too much.
