Reason for purchase: Bought as a gift for Mom. Her cardiologist recommended she move from 20 to 30 compressions to the next category. Her varicose veins are causing her severe pain, and compression stockings are required for heron flights to prevent deep vein thrombosis. Eventually she was told to wear compression stockings or socks every day and all day. This upsets the man who lives in sandals and slippers. I'm telling you, old age is not for the faint of heart! Thigh-length stockings didn't work, waist-length tights even worse: Occasional kidney problems require an easy and quick removal of the compression stockings she wears. I needed to find compression stockings that I could wear with peep toe sandals and flip flops without looking too flashy. What we found: She liked the look, but COULD NOT pull the stockings down her leg. The stockings are of course not to blame. Despite the cardiologist's recommendation of 30-40 compression, we're going back to something more manageable; something she can actually stand on her feet. As I travel with compression stockings I requested these pair and they felt good. You need to slowly and carefully roll them up and position the seam correctly. I hated their aesthetic and needed to remind myself that they weren't made for beauty, they were simply made for convenience. The toe box is slightly raised (I wore them with Clark open toe sandals) but a little adjustment helped. This is handy for summer plane trips or long summer walks in wet weather. I really try not to wear compression stockings too often for fear I'll get used to them and once you cross THIS Rubicon it becomes a slippery slope. I will update the review again after the summer.
