I would definitely recommend the purchase, I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
Before that, I used a smart phone for my money called the Sony Z3 for 5 years, but I decided to try Samsung instead and didn't miss it (I bought a version without a SIM card because it was a lot less expensive than with a SIM card; I hope this helps you understand the difference).
