Review on πŸš— Astoneves Level 2 EV Charger: 16A Switchable Electric Vehicle Charger for SAE J1772 Standard EV Cars (25ft Cable, 100-250V, Max 3.6kW) by Matthew Guiney

Very portable/spare

Although I mostly use a Siemens Level 2 2-way charger for both of our PHEVs, I needed something to replace a lost/stolen factory Level 1 charger. This fits the bill well. It seems pretty well made with thick cables/wires and durable materials. Maybe not as heavy as the factory unit, but not far off. It comes with a decent carrying case, but it's not as pretty as some of the padded cases found on pricier devices. The real plus is the dual voltage. 110V sockets are everywhere, so level 1 is essential when travelling. However, levelb1 is notoriously slow no matter who makes the charger. 220v level 2 is the way to go if you can find an outlet. Where it's better than most factory devices is that it easily supports both. It charges as fast as a factory level 1 unit. I can't say it's faster than my level 2 wall unit, but it's a 40 amp unit. . That brings me to the next point. You have to press a button to switch from 10 amps to 16 amps. Not sure why this is the case as usual, I think you need higher amps. Perhaps to accommodate users who have connected it to a lower capacity circuit. As the name suggests, this is a great portable or backup device. So it has earned a place in my trunk. Especially for level 2 if you are looking for a charger for everyday use, I think something more powerful with higher amperage is better for most people. So I'm giving 5 stars based on how I think it should be used.
