There is a lot of misinformation here in many reviews, including those that want to "enlighten". No, not all plumbing/gas fitting threads require and should not have Teflon tape. Teflon tape can actually compromise the sealing of a threaded joint if used where it is not intended to be used, and a perfect example of this is the threads on a clear plastic tube where it is screwed into a regulator's body. The thread is NOT Ip (iron pipe) thread and is not cut with a non-uniform tapered diameter like iron pipe threads. This tube has a constant pitch/constant diameter thread and an O-ring that the tube must sit on. It's a good idea to take that o-ring out and apply silicone grease to it, reinstall it and make sure the tube is screwed all the way into the regulator, but the gas-tight seal you're counting on doesn't come from anything. tape application.
