I've been using the Navionics Plus app for almost a year and I really love it. I downloaded it to my ipad and use it on both my boat and shaver. Love the details and for the most part very easy to use and would rate the app a 5+. So when I bought a new Lowrance HDS 9 fish finder and found out that I could use the Navionics Plus SD card I was very happy to get it, pop the SD card into my fish finder and get started. Insert the SD card into the Lowrance and it asked me if I would like to use it instead of the standard Lowrance card and I said yes. I was expecting the same high level of detail, no I couldn't tell the difference between Navionics charts and standard Lowrance charts. So I assumed I had the wrong settings so I spent the next 30 minutes trying to troubleshoot the issue. I changed a few settings and improved things a bit, but it wasn't nearly as detailed as I'm used to, so I went online to find out what was going on. Do I have a bad Navionics SD card? No, I found that even though I spent $21 a year on a great app and $139 on an SD card, the SD card version doesn't offer satellite overlay functionality. I just spent $139 plus tax. I don't understand why it's missing, the app has it for the same Arizona location but not on the SD card. Note, however, that you won't get the SD quality that the app offers.
