The right perch for the right bird

Our Timne gray parrot named Socrates was sold to us as a male but ended up laying an egg. Who said determining the gender of grays is an easy and precise task? From time to time she builds a nest and lays a new egg. Whenever she does, her behavior gets even weirder than usual, with more head shaking, aggression, and talking, but she only talks when we're in the other room. In order for the bird to fly as high as it wants, it needs a good, rough perch. and also keep the nails worn. I've never seen Socrates sharpen his beak on a pole. All I know is that if she manages to grab my arm in her beak, she will flap her wings and back away until my arm bleeds. You have to love the bird that bites the hand that feeds it. Maybe he/she is angry that we don't treat them like a woman. For around $14, you get a well-made perch made from natural materials that provides a comfortable perch and helps keep claws at an acceptable level of sharpness. I think I should be glad she doesn't use the perch like a wet rock to sharpen her beak for more effective bites and slashes. Thank god for small favors.
