When I have a Nikon 85mm f/1.8G portrait lens, I almost always use the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G on the Nikon D7000 because it's lighter, has better focal length, and produces a sharper image with less chromatic aberration. It focuses slower than the Nikon 50mm f/1.4D, but the image quality is definitely better on the G version. I usually shoot waist length portraits with this lens and after trying many portrait lenses I find it to be the best choice for crop systems for this purpose for the money. Let's just say it has the best value for money.
