Review on Delta Cycle Bicycle Clips Strapless by Montez Vazquez

I would give them 3.5 stars if that was an option. They're definitely inexpensive if they last. But there were several questions. See attached photos for explanation. Funny 'instructions' warn you that 'strapless toe clips have no straps'. Aside from that useful tidbit, they simply consist of a diagram showing the orientation of the toe clip, bolts, and nuts relative to the pedal. Along with 4 bolts and 4 nuts (with lock washers), the toe clips came with two slotted rectangular metal plates that matched the holes in the detents and on the bike's pedals. They are not shown in the schematic and nothing is said about what to do with them. Since the toe clips are all plastic and the screw holes are slotted and the screw heads aren't much wider than the holes, it makes sense to use each metal plate on the outside of each toe clip so the plastic toe clips are sandwiched between the metal plates and the pedals . Unfortunately the panels don't fit in this spot as they are wider than the space will allow. Too bad because when I hand tightened the screws with no metal plate, the plastic deformed slightly and I doubt the toe clips would have come loose long before they broke. Since my wife ordered them for her first triathlon, the chance didn't seem worth it. So I removed them and then reinstalled them with washers between the screw heads and the plastic clips. Now they seem strong enough to last a while. Overall, especially for the price, I'd recommend them, but unless you're keeping a couple of washing machines in your garage just for the occasion, plan a trip to the hardware store. Also note that if you have reflectors mounted on both sides of your pedals, you will need to remove those on the side where you are installing the toe clips.
