Large Hinged Waiter's Corkscrew

As a regular wine drinker I have tried many different styles and variations of corkscrews. While the bunny and wing styles are basic, I feel they are too bulky to store and carry to be worth buying. . We love OXO here at my house and we have a lot of their devices. It works very well as a waiter style corkscrew but without some of the moving parts that broke on the last one. The "hinge" is more like a retractable part inside (rather than outside) of the handle, making it less likely to bang in a drawer, fridge, etc. The handle has good OXO texture which makes it easier to grip and use. The corkscrew itself is nice and sharp, it easily starts penetrating the cork. The foil knife is my only complaint - while it is visually appealing, it is slightly curved to my liking and makes it uncomfortable to use. fold out and use as easy as a straight blade. It's very durable and I'm sure this compact little tool will be with me for many years to come.

Pros
  • Provides extra leverage to effortlessly remove even the longest corks in just two easy steps
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
