Review on πŸ’‘ GE 6-Outlet Extender Wall Tap: Grounded Adapter & Charging Station, 3-Prong, Secure Install - UL Listed (54946) in Light Almond by Jimmie Trotto

Revainrating 5 out of 5

EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED AND PICTURED: Separate rear end caps for top and bottom allow operation as two triple sockets.

There are two nice features here: (1) it uses -2- plugs on the back (see below) and (2) it has a strong central screw to hold the socket securely. With 2 rear plugs, it's really 2 sets of 3 sockets. In my bedroom, where the wall switch only controls 1 of the 2 outlets in the adjacent double outlet, this provides 3 outlets that are turned on by the light switch and 3 outlets that are always 'on'. The first 3 when the switch is on turns on the electric blanket and bedside lamp (I use a dedicated switch when I go to bed and wake up). The last 3 always power the watch and the cellular charger. Alternative 6 socket adapters often have a single rear plug with a second dummy plug (plastic): this precludes their use in my bedroom. Thanks to the stable central screw, you don't have to pull it out of the wall every time. They pull on the power cord, an issue I had with a previous unit. You need a gap around it as it is taller and wider than a standard rosette: door or floor moldings can (rarely) pose a problem. Likewise, such a width would be incompatible with "connected" jacks having multiple jack pairs as in some operating environments. Sturdy: Seems reasonable, but a night of kicking breaks it when you're happy to kick it out!
