I use a second spool of wire to repair floor pans on my 1987 Monte Carlo. Using a 90 amp cored wire welder for port cargo produces much less spatter than port cargo shipped with the welder. I bought it used and it already had a wire in it, I think it was a Lincoln brand. Works well on the ground when it's low as there are only high and low settings on the welder. There were some famous broken head bolts in the Chevy 5.3 head that I figured out after a few tries. The trick is to clean the studs with a drimmel. Then make sure you get a really good first weld on the broken bolt. After it was swollen enough I grabbed the weld with pliers while it was hot and unscrewed the broken bolts quite well. Also used to weld a cross member for my 4l60e gearbox that comes with my Monte Carlo (like 700r4). It holds the gearbox great, haven't driven the car yet and the gearbox is dead but I'm sure it's fine. Will be updated, something will change, but no complaints so far.
