After putting in a few AAA batteries, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and accurate this infrared thermometer was to use. The instruction manual is also easy to use. There are two buttons, the large button on the body is used to turn the device on and take the temperature, and the smaller gray button below the display is used to toggle between three different modes. . Holding down the big button for a few seconds toggles the beeps on or off, giving you temperature readings without the beep every time you use it. I then took the temperature and noticed that the thermometer was flashing red and showing "low" on the display. In a similar test, I held my hand under hot running water, and when I used this thermometer to record my hand's temperature, the easy-to-read display showed a red backlight with the text "High" instead of a nice green backlight. Another feature I love about this infrared thermometer is the magnetically attached lid that can be easily removed and wiped clean (the cap that surrounds the infrared sensor portion of the thermometer). This is a reliable, easy to use and accurate thermometer with well thought out features. and build quality that looks like it will last for years.
