I'm a big fan of mohawk latex backed nylon floor mats. I found one decades ago while browsing Kohl's and these are now the only mats I will use in high traffic areas. The colors are vibrant, the designs are beautiful, the color never fades, and the latex backing provides protection for my hardwood floors as well as slip resistance. Due to the low pile, I can easily put carpet in front of the door. The best news: although Mohawk doesn't recommend machine washing, I do it all the time! I vacuum first, then use a gentle cycle and cold water, trying to even out the stress. Carpets get as clean as if you bought a new carpet! Carpet is so fresh! Over time, the latex backing will break down (especially if you put the rug in the dryer, which isn't always necessary) and the rug will need to be replaced. I've washed successfully in the jogger size, more or less 2 by 3 and of course this small size. Nothing compares to these rugs for durability, beauty and value, and they have many useful uses. For example, I use a small one in front of the litter box. It catches dirt, protects the floor from accidents and is very easy to clean. I've experimented with other rug materials throughout the house and wool is fine, but if you have severe allergies and hardwood floors, you might want to just use these rugs. Wool rugs must be professionally cleaned to come close to machine washable Iroquois nylon, which takes both time and money. I have also tried cotton, rayon etc and keep coming back to mohawk nylon with latex backing. The latex base is also suitable for parquet. Iroquois are made right here in the USA and no other import compares to them in design, beauty and value. I study rugs all the time when I'm browsing shops for construction and design. I can say with a high degree of certainty that no other nylon carpet can compare to it.
