Review on 🚰 Electric Transfer Pump for 15-55 Gallon Containers by Jerry Chembola

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Electrical problems at first then the pump started to fail

The pump arrived box in box (typical Revain - Sep 03) and was easy to install in my 55 gallon E85 plastic drum. Used 6 times and it worked fine. Last time I tried to use it it didn't work. I connected the power supply (12VDC, 3A) and checked the voltage which showed 12VDC. Anyway, suspecting a power source, I cut off the plug from the power supply and plugged it into the charger (also 12VDC), plugged in the pump and it worked again. Then I bought a $10 12V DC 5A power adapter (November 16th - has more power and an LED to show it's working), plugged it in, and got back to business . Today (January 16) I pumped fuel, I heard the engine slow down and after about 5 seconds the pump stopped but the LED was still on. I removed the pump, checked the bottom filter (it was clean), disassembled the pump and found a blown fuse (mini fuse 5A). Replaced fuse and pump ran about 3 seconds before fuse blew again. I measured the impedance of the motor windings which showed 1.5 ohms. This reading requires an 8 amp fuse when operating on 12 volts. The nominal impedance of a motor operating up to 3 amps at 12 volts is 4 ohms. So I have to assume that the motor's impedance will change (i.e. fail) causing the fuses to blow, which will likely only get worse until the pump windings are completely shorted or open.
