Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Patriot Viper Gaming RGB Series DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz 16GB Kit - Black - Exciting RGB Color Profiles! by Geoff Yates

Revainrating 4 out of 5

High speed, good price, nice addressable RGB lighting

When I was looking for RAM for my new PC, friends recommended that I use what they were using - Corsair, G Skill, etc. , but looking at them side by side, Patriots Viper filled that need exactly, I needed to make my case look like a unicorn had vomited up a rainbow inside (for those who are curious, I'm running a Corsair 500D RGB SE case with Case LL120 fan, Team Group RGB SSD boot drive, Lian Li GPU Strimer RGB 8-pin cable, and stock AMD Wraith CPU cooler (which will eventually be replaced with an EK RGB liquid cooling circuit) This sheep is awesome. Since I Only the second time I've built and played the BIOS, I've had no trouble getting it up to the advertised 3200MHz (which is fine) with the 2133 that booted it up on the initial install, and my Ryzen 7 2700 runs great on it .I started with a 2 x 16GB kit in November but it has been six months with no problems since I wrote this in May and I have since bought another kit to fill all my slots.Given Given that Corsair have since released their new Dominator Platinum RGB RAM, that should say something, as it's undeniably fine RGB integration. Based on my experience with the Asus ROG Crosshair VII Hero (WLAN) motherboard, RGB is easy to pair with Asus. Aura Sync if you want to sync it with the backlight on your motherboard, CPU cooler, etc. and it does a good job with various Aura Sync effects. The Viper RAM also has its own easy to use software that can be downloaded from the Patriot website if your phone doesn't have a backlight and all the RGB options are great there (see the video for a demo). A big plus is that this RAM doesn't need to be plugged into an RGB port (like some other sticks do) and gets its RGB power directly from the slots, eliminating the need for additional wiring. One note about the Viper software is that it's pretty basic. Also sometimes it incorrectly says that you don't have RGB memory installed and gives you a popup which I think is chinese and doesn't let you access the profiles which I think occurs when you do it with the mobo- Software have paired same time. If this is an issue for you, be aware, but it doesn't bother me and I'm giving no star for it because I'm not running RAM paired with my mobile device or using Patriot software except to install it to Aurora and let its other quirk work freely - after closing the software process, RGB can get out of sync with other sticks. Again, if out of sync is an issue, pin a star while you're considering, but I wouldn't mind a penalty because it looks AWESOME in the Aurora settings - see the end of the video. Each of the 5 zones on 4 sticks displays a different color, giving you a more dynamic spectrum of fluid instead of a block of identical colors. I'll be back.
