Three years ago my business closed and I took my 30 year passion for woodworking to the streets. One of the things I learned early in the process is that tools with consistent performance are essential to meeting quality and production standards for picky customers. I've been busy making fitted doors lately which means I've made a lot of custom doors with raised panels. Simply put, this cutter cuts effortlessly and really delivers a smooth finish along the end grains of the panel. So far I've used it on poplar (cuttings that love oil) and maple and the results are impressive. I'm slowly working on industrial grade equipment, so some of my tools are still hobbyists. I'm using a Dewalt 619 plunge router on a homemade router table with a simple snap-in mounting plate. Not having an adjustable riser, my only gripe with this and many other bits is that the stem is about 1/2" shorter than I'd like. It's not really the Beat's fault, but there for some of you hobbyists outside it could be an important consideration.
